    One of the central figures in Lyari’s criminal syndicate Uzair Baloch has named up to 45 people as his accomplices in his reign of terror. In none of his confessions, however, is there any mention of any front-ranking leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

    The notorious leader of the defunct Peoples Amn Committee was handed over to the police on April 27 after his 90-day detention with the paramilitary Rangers. He has reportedly confessed to involvement in 198 murders before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT).

    Top among the alleged accomplices of Uzair are many former and current leaders of the PPP, including former home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, PPP Karachi’s ex-president Qadir Patel and Senator Yousuf Baloch, former Lyari nazim Malik Fayyaz, MPA Sania Naz, Advocate Saifi Ali Khan and Friends of Lyari Chairman Habib Jan.

    The gangster has also named his former comrades Noor Muhammad alias Baba Ladla, Taj Muhammad aka Ustad Taju, Faisal Pathan, Mullah Nisar, Sheraz Comrade, Shakeel Commando, Shakeel Badshah, Wasiullah Lakho, Jameel Changa, Shahid Bikik and Shahid MCB as his accomplices

    According to the JIT report obtained by The Express Tribune, the accused fled Karachi in May or June 2013 to Dubai via Iran and was brought back in January 2016.

    Rangers declared his arrest in a targeted operation on the outskirts of Karachi on January 30.
