  • Uzair Baloch case: Rangers summon Zulfiqar Mirza for questioning

    Rangers on Tuesday has summoned ex-Sindh home minister and Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) estranged leader Zulfiqar Mirza for questioning in Lyari gang war leader Uzair Baloch’s case.

    According to details, Uzair Baloch has started uttering significant names of political leaders and has made important revelations during interrogation after which Zulfiqar Mirza has been summoned for questioning.

    Mirza will be interrogated in light of the statements made by Uzair Baloch.

    Earlier, Mirza has termed Baloch as his close companion and brother.

    It is pertinent to mention here that in Zulfiqar Mirza’s era Lyari gang war was issued with more than three lac weapon licenses.

    Uzair Baloch was arrested by Rangers on January 30, 2016 as he was trying to enter Karachi from the city’s suburbs and was handed to Rangers for 90 days by the court.

    The court also directed to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for interrogation of 30 cases against the suspect after which the team was created having City Senior Superintendant of Police (SSP) Fida Hussain as its head.

    Uzair Baloch, the chief of the banned Peoples Aman Committee (PAC), fled Pakistan in 2013 after the launch of a Rangers operation in the metropolis.

    The suspect has been blamed for running a network involved in criminal activities including killings, extortion, kidnapping for ransom and drugs business.

    Several cases were registered again him at police stations in different areas including Kalakot, Chakiwara, Napier and Baghdadi.
