  • Tax On International Calls: LHC Cancels PTA's Notification

    Featured

Lahore High Court on Thursday resumed hearing of a petition filed against Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s notification to impose additional tax on the incoming international calls.

During case hearing, a local telecom company prayed that Pakistanis living abroad are facing difficult due to PTA’s recent move. The company told court that PTA has also violated competitive commission’s rules, thus, a stay order should be issued against it. A representative of PTA argued that additional tax is being collected in the better interest of the country. After hearing arguments, Justice Ijaz-ul-Hassan cancelled PTA’s notification and directed PTA Chairman to submit a reply by November 5.
