  • Rawalpindi: Fire at AFIC brought under control

Fire erupted early morning in a room of Rawalpindi’s military hospital where former president Pervez Musharraf is under treatment for over two weeks. However, the blaze was put out within half-an-hour.

Musharraf was admitted to the hospital earlier this month. He was rushed there after complaints of chest pain while being driven to the court where his high treason trial was due to begin.

Initial reports said the blaze erupted in Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) due to short-circuit, prompting hospital authorities to call fire tenders to extinguish the fire.

Fire fighters brought the flames under control within half-an-hour as there were no reports of damages from the heavily-guarded hospital.
