Authorities have sacked over 279 traffic wardens who used fake educational documents for their promotions. Decision made on a report of an inquiry committee.

The issue came to surface when authorities formed a committee after some traffic wardens protested against their non-promotion. 366 educational documents and domiciles were found fake during scrutiny after the wardens were asked to re-submit their documents. The government also registered cases against them.

After going through a scrutiny of all documents submitted by traffic wardens across Punjab, including birth certificates, education documents, 279 were found guilty of forgery and other malpractices.
