  • Punjab EC completes election arrangement

    LAHORE - Punjab Election Commission has completed the purchase of polling materials and printing of electoral rolls.

     

    According to reports, over 3.7 million new voters including 515 eunuchs have been registered in the electoral rolls while 2,797 new polling stations have been added.

    Election Commission sources said that the total number of voters in 2008 elections stood at 4, 45, 45, 385, which now with the increase of 37, 63, 259 tallied at 4, 83, 8, 644.

    In the previous elections, the number of polling stations stood at 38, 021, which has been increased to 40, 818.

    The list of district and session judges to be posted as district returning officer and that of posting civil judges as returning officers has also been prepared.

    Punjab Election Commissioner Tariq Qadri said that besides preparing the scheme, purchases for the polling materials had also been completed.
