LAHORE, Model Town residents and civil society members gathered on Sunday near the Central Park to protest against the decision of the housing society management to commercialise more than 80-kanal green areas.
Women and children were prominent among the protesters who had held banners and placards, and raised slogans against the MTS for mushroom growth of commercial activities in residential areas.
Model Town Park Bachao Tehreek activist Tanwir Ahmad told newsmen that the society’s management had decided to allow establishment of four restaurants over more than 20 kanals of Linear Park, high-rise plazas over more than 55 kanals of J block garden, development of residential plots over five kanals of J Block garden-cum-park and setting up of a play land in the Central Park.
