LAHORE: The counsel for the federation, Advocate Wasim Sajjad, appeared on Wednesday before the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) bench hearing the case of dual offices held by President Asif Ali Zardari and informed in writing that the Presidency would not be used for any political activities.
A five-judge bench headed by LHC Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial resumed the hearing of the dual office case.
Earlier during the hearing Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Irfan Qadir had requested the court to adjourn the hearing.
The bench rejected the adjournment request and replied that the case was significant in nature and the hearing would carry on even if the AGP was not available to appear for the hearing.
Earlier on Jan 21, the LHC had called for an assurance from President Asif Ali Zardari to voluntarily quit political activities in the Presidency in accordance with its last year’s judgment and had offered that in return proceedings on a contempt petition against him would be discharged.
