    Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday has arrested an international smuggler and terrorist hailing from Karachi named Abbas Afridi.

    The arrested person was wanted in several offenses including attacks on police, killings on language-based riots and other terror acts.

    Sources privy to the CTD said that Afridi belongs to an area near Karachi’s Katti Pahari. Afridi played role in dozens of innocent killings during language-based riots a few years ago. The culprit was arrested on a tip-off from his brother, Bilal Afridi who was arrested earlier.

    Dozens of cases have been registered against Abbas Afridi in different police stations in Karachi. Peshawar police have summoned record of the arrested murderer from police stations concerned in Karachi.

    Two brothers of the arrested criminal named, Sajid and Zafar were killed in an encounter with CTD few months ago.

    On January 1, CTD apprehended four militants in a raid at a house in Pishtakhara area.

    The arrested insurgents were distributing pamphlets of a banned terrorist organisation. Terrorists were shifted to an undisclosed location for investigation.
