  • Suspected persons trying to reach Malala held

Some suspected people trying to reach Malala were arrested outside UK hospital.

Talking to media, medical director of Birmingham s Queen Elizabeth Hospital Dave Rosser said that some suspected persons were detained after turning up at the hospital, falsely claiming to be related to the 14-year-old Malala Yousufzai.

Malala arrived in the UK for treatment on Monday after being shot by Taliban gunman during attack on a school van in Swat valley.

Dave Rosser said the arrests were "irritating", adding that Malala was never at risk as the hospital was "very comfortable" with security arrangements.

"Malala will need reconstructive surgery and we have international experts in that field."

Malala has been assessed by clinicians from the neurosurgery, imaging, trauma and therapy departments, though "very specialist teams" who may become involved further down the line are yet to perform detailed assessments on her injuries, Rosser added.
