Advisor on Petroleum and Natural Resources says one billion cubic feet gas will be added to the system by the end of next year
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad this afternoon‚ he said it would help overcome shortage in the country.
Dr. Asim said petroleum policy 2011 is showing good results. Soon we will get 30 mmcf gas daily from Bhadra Block two in Sindh.
He said next year thirty-six wells will be drilled in the country. He said the government is intended to increase the number of wells further.
The Advisor said country's oil requirement per day is three hundred eighty thousand barrels per day.
Currently Pakistan is producing sixty thousand barrels oil per day and by April next year it will be able to produce ninety thousand barrels oil per day fulfilling twenty-five percent requirements of the commodity domestically.
Dr. Asim said Iran has allotted a block for exploration to Pakistan Petroleum Limited.
He said we are also bidding in Morocco and Afghanistan.
Answering a question said the coming winter will be tough with regard to gas load shedding.
