  • Pakistan rejects Indian claim that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India

At the United Nations‚ Pakistan has again rejected the Indian claim that the Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India

Speaking a the UN General Assembly Pakistan's Deputy Permanent Representative Raza Bashir Tarar make it absolutely clear that Jammu and Kashmir is neither an integral part of India nor has it ever been.

He said President Zardari had also reaffirmed in his speech to the General Assembly that Pakistan will continue to support the right of the people of Kashmir to peacefully choose their destiny in accordance with the UN Security Council's longstanding resolutions.

The Pakistan Envoy using his right to reply said that reference to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in President Zardari's statement was not "unwarranted" as asserted by the Indian External Affairs Minister S.M Krishna.

Raza Bashir Tarar lamented that Kashmir remains a symbol of the failures of the United Nations system rather than its strengths.
