    Pakistan was defeated in the first ODI against South Africa in a series of five matches at Shahrjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah; SA won by one run after tough fight during last overs.

    Imran Tahir and Parnell grabbed three wickets each followed by two wickets each by Tsotsobe and Morkel.
    Ahmed Shehzad was the highest scorer with 58 runs with five fours followed by 31 of Misbah and 28 runs hit by Hafeez.
    Earlier, the Proteas captain AB de Villiers won the toss and chose to bat first. The entire team collapsed at meager 183 in 49.5 overs.
    Bowler Muhammed Irfan took the first wicket paving the way for Saeed Ajmal and Shahid Afridi who took seven wickets.
    None of the first five batsmen could hit more than 20 runs.
