The Sindh High Court (SHC) Thursday accepted former Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon’s application for protective bail in two cases involving charges of multi-billion-rupee corruption.
According to our correspondent, Memon was granted protective bail after submitting security bonds of Rs.4 million.

A reference had been filed against him by the National Accountably (NAB) accusing him of Rs.5 billion embezzlement in awarding advertisements as Sindh Minister for Information to the print and electronic media illegally.
Another case pursued by NAB accuses him of being involved in illegal allotment of land.

Earlier, the minister, who is a senior leader of ruling Pakistan People’s Party in Sindh, appeared in the court today where he filed his bail application.
Last week, a bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted protective bail to him after he filed surety bonds worth two million rupees.

On March 18, the former minister was briefly detained by officials of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and NAB at the Islamabad airport as he arrived in Pakistan from Dubai, ending his self-exile.
