Pakisan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahir-ul-Qadri on Sunday said the inquiry report has exposed the reality of the Model Town incident, and the Punjab government and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif have failed to suppress its findings.

Addressing media alongside Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) leader Raja Nasir Abbas, the PAT chief said they have fought a long legal and political struggle to finally get the report.

“Baqir Najafi report has exposed the reality of Model Town incident,” he said. “Punjab govt, Shahbaz Sharif have failed from hiding the facts.”

“We have fought a legal and political struggle, and with the help of Al-Mighty Allah we have received the report.”

He alleged that Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Shahbaz Sharif and the entire Punjab government was responsible for the incident.

He said the federal government appointed Mustafa Sukhera two days before as Inspector General Punjab to conduct the massacre. “The Baqir Najafi report has asked the federal goverment why this transfer was done just two days before the incident.”

He once again reiterated and called for the resignation of Rana Sanaullah and Shahbaz Sharif. He said that Shahbaz Sharif did not call for restraint or directed the police to disenage with the Model Town protestors.

“Shahbaz Sharif is directly involved in the Model Town massacre,” said the cleric adding that he report has completely exposed him. “Baqir Najafi report has exposed you, every single page calls you a criminal.”

He also allegedly that Shabaz Sharif had directed not to let Qadri’s upcoming long march succeed, and teach them a befitting lesson even it it led to loss of lives.

He called for a Panamagate-style Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for the Model Town incident. “If the JIT is not formed, then we will use people’s force to kick you out,” he warned. “A delay in resignations will aggravate problems for you.”

Chaudhry Shujaat said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has become part of history, and now its Shahbaz Sharif’s turn.

He said that Model Town incident is now a people’s problem, and the victim’s families are still demanding answers why their loved one were killed. He said the perpetrators will be held accountable and brought to justice, not in months but rather in weeks. “The perpetrators of Model Town will have have terrible fate.”
