Chief Minister was elected through division of votes in the provincial legislature.
Mian Shahbaz Sharif has won the slot of Punjab Chief Minister for a record third time as his Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz enjoyed majority in the Punjab Assembly.
Shahbaz Sharif secured 300 votes whereas Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf candidate Mian Mehmoodur Rashid bagged 34 votes only.
The PPPP and Jamaat-e-Islami did not field their candidate for the election. A total strength of the Punjab Assembly members is 371 of which 358 were notified.
Shahbaz Sharif would take the oath of his office at the Governor House where newly-elected Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would also attend the ceremony.
