A murder convict was hanged in Faisalabad’s Central Jail earlier this morning.
Muhammad Afzal was convicted of murder over a property dispute in 1995. Security during the time of the hanging was high, with unauthorised persons given no access to the prison.
Over 50 convicts have been hanged since the government lifted moratorium on death penalty last year, following the brutal attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar.
