The President in his address to the General Assembly tonight will urge the world body to address the alarming situation created by blasphemous video
President Asif Ali Zardari is addressing the UN General Assembly tonight to highlight Pakistan's efforts for global peace and religious harmony.
FM-101‚ FM 93‚ and FM 94 Network of Radio Pakistan will carry the President's Address LIVE at 2 A.M.
The President's address with Urdu voice over will be broadcast after 07.00 a.m. bulletin on Wednesday morning on the entire national hook up.
The president would reaffirm Pakistan's support for the right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to choose their own destiny by peaceful means and in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.
President Zardari would also emphasize on regional cooperation to fight illicit drug production and trafficking. His key message to the international community would be win-win solutions through cooperation and connectivity.
He will also present Pakistan's point of view on promoting religious harmony highlighting Pakistan's efforts for ensuring peace and security at the regional and international level.
President Zardari would also urge the General Assembly to address the alarming situation created by the blasphemous video that resulted in violent protests across the Muslim world.
He will also urge the international community to evolve an appropriate legislative framework to stop reoccurrence of acts of blasphemy.
Radio Pakistan's special correspondent Murtaza Solangi reports from New York that President Zardari will also interact with a number of world leaders on the sidelines of the General assembly session to further promote bilateral relations.
The president would also highlight the efforts made in the past five years to consolidate democracy and strengthen democratic institutions in Pakistan. He would inform the international community about the initiatives taken by the government to eliminate poverty‚ promote social development‚ and empower socially marginalized segments of the society‚ especially women.
