Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said all available resources will be utilized for the relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people in Southern Punjab. Addressing the flood-hit people in Rojhan Mazari on Saturday‚ he said ration‚ medicines‚ tents and other necessities of life will be provided to the flood victims on priority basis. Expressing grief over the damage caused by rains and floods to houses and crops in Rojhan Mazari‚ the Prime Minister announced one hundred million rupees for uninterrupted supply of ration to the people of the area. He said he has also directed the National Disaster Management Authority and Baitul Maal to reach the rain affected areas to meet their needs. Earlier at a briefing‚ the Prime Minister was informed that the recent rains affected six hundred thousand people in Rajan Pur District and damaged crops over two hundred and twelve thousand acres of land. The rains also damaged twenty thousand houses. Punjab Governor Latif Khan Khosa‚ Federal Ministers Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Hafeez Sheikh were also present on the occasion.
