Authorities have directed employees of government ministries, divisions and federal institutions located in the Red Zone and Extended Red Zone of Islamabad to work from home in light of heightened security measures.

The instructions come as the second round of peace talks between the United States and Iran is set to begin on April 20, 2026.

Officials cited strict security requirements and the arrival of foreign delegations as the primary reasons behind the decision.

According to the administration, the Red Zone has been completely sealed, with all surrounding areas closed to general traffic.

Only limited official movement is being permitted, while public, private, and heavy transport services—including buses and trucks—have been suspended until further notice.

Employees working in the Pakistan Secretariat, along with other government offices, have been instructed to operate remotely to minimize road congestion and facilitate security arrangements.

The measures have been implemented by the government and the Islamabad administration to ensure comprehensive security during the high-level diplomatic engagements.

Citizens have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and use alternative routes during this period.

Further updates are expected as the situation develops and the talks progress.
