Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif welcomed His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the Prime Minister’s House this evening.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring avenues for expanded cooperation in economic, trade, investment, health, science and technology, education, and defense sectors.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing strategic and economic ties between Pakistan and Jordan, as well as promoting mutually beneficial collaboration in regional and international forums.
The Prime Minister described King Abdullah II’s visit as a symbol of the enduring friendship between the two countries.
In turn, King Abdullah II praised Pakistan’s consistent support for Jordan in maintaining regional stability and humanitarian efforts, particularly during and after the Gaza conflict.
The discussions also included a comprehensive exchange of views on regional security and peace initiatives.
Regarding Palestine, both leaders expressed a shared stance on post-war Gaza, emphasizing zero tolerance for displacement of Palestinians and reaffirming their principled positions.
The two sides agreed to strengthen coordination among the eight Arab-Islamic countries collaborating with the U.S. on the Gaza ceasefire and the Gaza Peace Plan signed in Sharm el Sheikh.
Additionally, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif briefed King Abdullah II on recent developments in Pakistan’s neighborhood, particularly in Afghanistan and India, with the Jordanian monarch recognizing Pakistan’s key role in promoting regional peace and stability.
His Majesty King Abdullah II thanked the people and Government of Pakistan for their warm hospitality during his visit to Pakistan.
Both the dignitaries witnessed an MoU exchange ceremony in the field of media, culture, and education.
The Prime Minister also hosted a banquet in honour of King Abdullah -İİ and the accompanying delegation.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Minister for Information & Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar, Minister for Climate Change Dr. Musaddiq Malik, and senior government officials were also part of the delegation.
