Pakistan’s former Test cricketer Shoaib Akhtar is highly impressed with Babar Azam who has learnt to convert the 50s and 60s into 100s.

Former Fast Bowler Shoaib Akhtar shared his views on Babar’s special knock against Bangladesh on Day 2 of the Pindi Test. He called him ‘Mughal e Azam of Pakistan’ for the way he has transformed himself into a challenging Test player.

“It is exciting to see Babar becoming a strong contender in Test cricket too. Initially, he struggled with converting those double figures into triple but he has changed himself and now is up with some good innings under his belt. He has started playing all the shots fearlessly and his strike-rate has improved which is a boost for him personally,” he said.

Akhtar thinks that Babar is giving tough time to the world’s current top-four batsmen including Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, and Joe Root. “He is challenging the top-tier of the batsmen in the world. He is focused on his target and accelerating towards them,” Akhtar marked.

On the other hand, the former speedster pointed out some weaknesses of team Pakistan in the ongoing Test against Bangladesh. First and foremost, is Yasir Shah who has been failed so far to make his presence felt. “The team management should be concerned over Yasir’s form. He is a good bowler and fastest to get 200 wickets in Test cricket. He has the potential to do well but needs some hard work,” he concluded.
