Two Pakistani teams qualified for the grand finale of IBSF World Team Snooker Championship 2017. Babar Masih and Muhammad Asif defeated Asjad Iqbal and Muhammad Sajjad by 5-4 to secure their gold medals. The defeating team received silver medals.

It was already made clear earlier that the championship hosted by Egypt would be won by a Pakistani team. Both teams showed impressive play and were equally poised at 4-4 during one stage of their match. However, Masih and Asif scored the winning points to register their victory.

The two played in sublime form throughout the tournament. Iqbal and Sajjad had outclassed Wales by 4-0 in their semi-final while Masih and Asif became victors in their semi-final match against Ireland. The players were congratulated by Pakistan Billiard and Snooker Association (PBSA).

They urged PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to greet the title holders and announce cash prizes for making the nation proud. The officials said they will themselves welcome the players upon Pakistan arrival.

Asif already holds the world number 4 position while Masih is the world number 6 in the ranking. It was the first time in Team Snooker category that two teams of same country played the final.
