The city is once again in the dark as a major power outage in various areas kept citizens awake through Wednesday night, with metropolis' sole power supplier saying its teams "are working" on the issue.

Numerous areas experienced the power cut and it was estimated that almost 50 percent of the city did not have electricity.

These areas included Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, F.B. Area, Bahadurabad, PECHS, PIB Colony, Jamshed Road, Jehangir Road, Nazimabad, Gulzar-e-Hijri, Shah Faisal Town, Landhi, Korangi, Malir, and Scheme 33, among others.

When contacted, a spokesperson for the K-Electric, Karachi's power supplying company, said they had "received reports of power outage from few areas".

"Our teams are working to resume power in the city," the spokesperson added.
