Seven of the dozens of persons who had stormed offices of two media houses in August are revealed on Saturday to be working for Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) in capacity of regular employees.

Law enforcers have identified seven suspects with help of different CCTV footages from the August 22 archives. Sindh Police have dispatched a letter to KMC to take necessary action in the issue.

On August 22, offices of two private television channels were attacked in Karachi while their property vandalized by activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement as they were triggered by founder of the political party, Altaf Hussain in an address.

Hussain had addressed a gathering of party workers earlier that day in Karachi and the participants including the founder chanted anti-state slogans.

Announcement of detachment with the founder by senior leaders of the party in Pakistan ensued and the bloc was led by Dr Farooq Sattar under whose name the party is registered in Pakistan as Hussain is a British national.

Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah paid visits to the affected media houses in the days that followed and vowed to take action as permitted by the law.

At least three women supporters of MQM were detained among others and lodged cases against by Sindh Police after August 22 regarding whom leaders of MQM Pakistan including Khawaja Izharul Hassan, Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly appealed to the law enforcers seeking pardon.

Meanwhile, a crackdown was launched against all illegal installations across Sindh that belonged to MQM.

Altaf Hussain has been residing in London for over two decades in self-imposed exile. The backlash that Hussain attracted was the worst ever in history of the political organisation, according to the analysts.

Interior Minister of Pakistan, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had contacted British authorities in the following days over the issue.
