Sindh High Court has formed a judicial commission to investigate Gul Plaza tragedy.
The Sindh government had written a letter to the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court on January 29 for a judicial inquiry into the horrific fire incident that broke out in Gul Plaza, a famous shopping center located on M.A. Jinnah Road in Karachi on January 17, 2026, to which the Sindh High Court responded.
The Sindh High Court, on the basis of the Sindh Tribunals of Inquiry Ordinance 1969 and the Terms of Reference submitted by the Sindh government, formed a single-member judicial commission consisting of Justice Agha Faisal, which will investigate the Gul Plaza fire incident and its causes.
The Sindh government will notify the duration and other details of the commission.
The letter issued by the Registrar Office of the Sindh High Court states that all documents related to the incident should be presented before Justice Agha Faisal, while the Sindh Home Department has also been informed in this regard.
It should be noted that more than 70 people died in the fire that broke out in Gul Plaza.
