    The Punjab government on Tuesday has refuse d to grant permission to Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chairman Tahirul Qadri-led opposition sit-in scheduled on January 17, Wednesday.

    According to details six opposition parties have requested for the permission to hold sit-in at Mall Road, however Punjab government turned down their request.
    Addressing press conference Punjab government spokesperson Malik Ahmed Khan reminded that during the protest staged by the pharmacists a huge blast occurred as the speakers have also delivered hate speeches during the sit-in.

    “The demonstration on Mall Road will badly effect educational proceeding as there is also security alert in the area,” he warned.

    The minister said that the city’s residents, including business community and students, are concerned about traffic and security issues, adding that PAT should ensure it does not infringe upon the rights of others while exercising its own.

    He defending government said that the JIT was formed with the consultation of PAT Chairman Tahirul Qadri but he late expressed no-trust on JIT, however he could not present the any witness regarding removal of evidence of Modal Town incident.

    “Imran Khan and Tahirul qadri want to close the Mall Road, however the protest on Modal Town incident cannot be staged on Mall Road as the issue under proceeding in court.

    Commenting over the killing of two protesters in Kasur by police firing, he said that the responsible police personnel being sentenced and complete all legal aspects in this connection.
