Just like NA-122, images of PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari are unambiguously missing from the banners and posters put up by the party in the whole of NA-144 constituency.

Zardari’s pictures was not made part of party banners and billboards on directives of Sajjad-ul-Hassan, PPP’s candidates from NA-144 where by-elections are scheduled for Oct.11.

The same situation was witnessed yesterday in Lahore’s NA-122 constituency where a PPP election rally was seen without Zardari’s posters, strengthening the notion that there is something wrong inside party ranks.

Pakistan People’s Party is facing a serious crisis as differences have crept up amongst senior leaders whether or not Zardari should remain at the helms of the party.

Our correspondent quoting party sources reported on Thursday that some PPP senior leaders have expressed lack of confidence over Zardari’s leadership during their recent meetings in Dubai.

PPP leaders have advised Zardari to step down as the party’s co-chairman and that he should also retire from politics. They have also suggested that Bilawal Bhutto should be given a chance to lead the party with renewed vigour, sources said.

“PPP won’t be able to win any election if Zardari’s picture is displayed on banners of the party,” our correspondent quoted a party source as saying.
