Former federal minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shafqat Mahmood has announced to withdraw from the general election scheduled for February 8.

In a tweet on the social networking website X (Twitter) he said that he had submitted nomination papers from the National Assembly constituency NA-128 and the provincial assembly constituency PP-170 in Lahore, but now I have decided to withdraw from the election.

Shafqat Mahmood clarified that he is not a candidate from any constituency and prayed that Allah be the helper and supporter of us all.

On the other hand, the PTI announced the candidates for the provincial and national assembly seats from Khyber district.

Iqbal Afridi was given the party ticket from the National Assembly (NA-27) seat from the Khyber district, while Allama Adnan Qadri will be the party’s candidate from the provincial assembly seat (PK-69).

Sohail Afridi and Abdul Ghani Afridi were given the party tickets from PK-70 and PK-71 respectively.

Meanwhile, talking to the media outside the Supreme Court, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar said that “we want the elections to take place at all costs. We have no quarrel with anyone, we hope that the Supreme Court will ensure the holding of the elections on time”.

Barrister Gohar said that “from now on, any statement from the PTI founder (Imran Khan) will come through me.” He said that this time ideological workers and leaders will get tickets.
