    Re-polling is under way on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly's PK-23, Shangla seat after results were declared invalid due to low female voter turnout in the constituency during the 2018 General Election.

    Thirteen candidates are in the run for the seat, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI Shaukat Yousafzai, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal’s (MMA) Muhammad Yaar, Awami National Party’s (ANP) Umer Zada and Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Afsar-ul-Mulk.

    According to the provincial election commission, polling began at 8am and will continue till 6pm without any break.

    One hundred and thirty-five polling stations have been established across the constituency.

    Results of PK-23 Shangla were declared invalid by the Election Commission of Pakistan as the ratio of women voters was less than 10 per cent during the July 25 polls.

    According to records, 86,698 women were registered to vote in the constituency. However, only 3,505 women had cast their votes in violation of ECP regulations.

    PTI candidate Shaukat Yousafzai had emerged as the victor from PK-23 during the July 25 polls.
