  • Mashal Khan’s shooter still not arrested: KP police

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police told the supreme court of Pakistan on Thursday that the shooter of Mashal Khan was identified but was not arrested as yet. The disclosure was made through a report submitted before the apex court stating that out of 36 accused, 32 had been sent to jail whereas the remaining four were in police custody.

The police informed a three-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar that an investigation team has been constituted to probe the matter.

It bears mentioning that the chief justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar had taken a Suo-moto notice of the incident in which a student of Abdul Wali Khan university named Mashal khan was beaten to death over allegations, he committed blasphemy.

The harrowing episode stirred outrage among the masses who demanded a stern action against the perpetrators.

Earlier, the KP police chief had also clarified that the investigations revealed that no sacrilegious element was found against Mashal Khan.

The apex court adjourned the hearing of the Suo motu case for 15 days.
