  • Five injured as cross border shelling targets civilians in Waziristan

    At least five civilians, including three children, were injured when a mortar shell from the Afghan Taliban regime struck a house in a border area near Angoor Adda in South Waziristan.

    According to security and rescue officials, the shell was fired from across the Afghan border on 29 April 2026 and landed at the home of local residents Karim Khan and Rehmatullah, injuring members of the same family.

    Rescue teams confirmed that the injured, including three children, were taken to hospital, where treatment is under way.

    Doctors have not yet confirmed their condition. Medical officer Dr Ashfaq confirmed that the hospital had received five injured patients from the incident.

    Residents described the attack as sudden and severe. One of the victims named Noor Ali said the shell landed without warning, causing a powerful explosion. Another injured person said the blast was so strong that it shook the entire house.

    Security sources said armed elements across the border had continued to target civilian areas, while local residents expressed concern that such incidents were creating fear, especially among children.

    High alert in Quetta as rockets fire

    In a separate development, rockets were fired from an unknown direction in parts of Quetta, including Shanti Nagar's Akhtar Muhammad Road, Faqir Muhammad Road and near Mir Ahmad Khan Road.

    According to DIG Quetta Police Imran Shaukat, no casualties were reported in the Quetta incident.

    The DIG Police said security forces responded quickly and launched search operations in coordination with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).

    He added that efforts to trace those responsible had been intensified, with checks under way at suspected locations. Security across the city has been placed on high alert, with strict monitoring at entry and exit points.

    Quetta is the capital of Balochistan province, and its distance from the Afghan border (Chaman border crossing) is approximately 132 km (about 82 miles).
