Five persons were martyred and 22 others were injured on Monday in an explosion near a police van in Mamund tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, rescue and hospital officials said.
As per initial reports, the explosion took place near a police van that was en route to provide security to a polio vaccination team in Mamun tehsil of Bajaur district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
At least 22 people were injured in the blast and were shifted to hospital, as per rescue officials.
As per reports, the blast completely destroyed the police van that was deputed for the security of a polio vaccination team.
A weeklong anti-polio campaign kicked off across the country from Monday.
