  • Muharram moon sighted, Ashura to fall on August 30

    The moon of Muharram-ul- Harram was sighted on thursday and new Islamic year will start from August 21 (Friday).

    The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee made announcement about sighting of moon after a meeting in Karachi.

    Chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman presided over the meeting held at Pakistan Meteorological Department’s office in which officials of Met Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs and members of Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee were present.

    Ashura, which marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), will fall on August 30.
