ISLAMABAD: Musharraf attends hearing at special court, leaves shortly after. The Special Court has reserved its verdict for conducting treason trial of former president Gen. (retd) Pervez Musharraf under Army Act.
The special court constituted to hear the treason case of former president had summoned him on February 18. In the previous hearings the former military dictator had not appeared before the court but he now faces non-bailable arrest warrants if he fails to appear today.
Three-member bench of the special court, headed by Justice Faisal Arab is hearing the case here on Tuesday.
Justice Faisal asked counsel of Musharraf when his client would appear before the court?
On this, counsel Anwar Mansoor said Musharraf would appear whenever, the security officials give him clearance. He said security officials would decide the time of his appearance, therefore, he (counsel) could not inform the court about the exact time.
The counsel in his arguments said the amendment in 1977 Army Act was still an effective law.
On this, Justice Faisal Arab said it means if any civilian violates the constitution, then the case would be conducted in the military court.
