Supreme Court of Pakstan on Tuesday upheld its ruling of acquitting former minister Anwer Saifullah and former Senator Safdar Abbasi in LNG Quota case, binning the appeal of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa heard on a petition filed by Anti-graft body which challenged Apex court’s previous judgment of acquitting the two accused.

NAB’s lawyer, while presenting his arguments, claimed that Anwer Saifullah had no authority as petroleum minister of at the time to hand over quota.

When inquired by Chief Justice, the lawyer explained that there was no record which may shed light on the authority responsible for viewing the handing over of quota in accordance with certain sets of rules and regulations.

After hearing arguments in the case, Top Court then rejected the submitted plea of Anti-graft watchdog and maintained the acquaintance of the suspects.
