    Federal Minister for Narcotics Control and the former chief minister Sindh Ali Mohammad Mahar passed away at the age of 52 on Tuesday.

    “The lawmaker died of cardiac arrest in his hometown Ghotki today”, family sources said.

    Getting the information, his brothers and relatives have started to reach Ghotki to attend his funerals.

    Mahar was born on 12 January 1967 to Ali Anwar Khan Mahar, an influential political family of Sindh.

    He was re-elected to the National Assembly as an independent candidate from NA-205 (Ghotki-II) seat in General Election, 2018.

    Following his successful election, he announced to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

    On 11 September 2018, he was inducted into the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

    On 4 October 2018, he was appointed as Federal Minister for Narcotics Control.

    Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed sorrow over the demise of his cabinet member and offered condolence to the bereaved family.
