The interior ministry officials will meet on January 8 to discuss steps being taken to extradite chief of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) based in London, said a notification issued on Saturday.

The meeting will be chaired by federal interior secretary, and will be attended by the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) Director General, Sindh Inspector General Kaleem Imam and representatives from the Sindh home ministry.

Earlier, the interior ministry in October 2018 gave a go-ahead to the authorities for approaching Interpol for Altaf Hussain’s red warrant in the Imran Farooq murder case.

Farooq, 50, was stabbed to death outside his house in London on September 16, 2010.

A case pertaining to Farooq’s murder has been registered in the Federal Investigation Agency’s counter-terrorism wing. Altaf Hussain is wanted in the case.
