Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar on Tuesday said even if he was still in Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) he would not have gone to the airport to welcome former premier Nawaz Sharif.

"I would not have gone to welcome Nawaz," the former interior minister said while addressing the media in Taxila.

Nisar, who has contesting as an independent candidate from the NA-63, NA-59, PP-10 and PP-12 constituencies in the upcoming general election following a fall out with the PML-N, said he chose the jeep electoral symbol.

"I had three choices and I chose the jeep," he said.

Further, Nisar urged, "No step should be taken that makes the election controversial."

"No one is getting a certificate for corruption or honesty," he added.

The former interior minister called for "a government that focuses on issues of the people."
