  • US lauds Pakistan’s role in Afghan peace process

Second round of peace talks scheduled for today have been postponed at the request of Afghan Taliban leadership.

The United States has appreciated Pakistan's constructive role in Afghan reconciliation process.

This has been stated by US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Mark Toner during a daily press briefing in Washington.

Responding to a question, he said Pakistan has played a helpful role in the reconciliation process.

The comments by the U.S. State Department came after Pakistan announced to postpone the second round of the Afghan peace talks, scheduled to be held today, in the backdrop of the reports regarding death of Taliban chief Mulla Omar and at the request of the Afghan Taliban leadership.
