  • Identification of Bomber and mastermind of Shikarpur blast found

    Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan claimed on Friday that the bomber and mastermind of last week’s suicide blast in Shikarpur have been identified.

    Over 60 people were killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up in an imambargah in Sindh on Jan 30, leaving dozens injured. Briefing the National Assembly over progress into the carnage investigation, the minister claimed headway in the enquiry, saying that both bomber and mastermind of the attack have been identified.

    About Dec 16 militant attack in Peshawar, the minister said that Pakistan and Afghanistan have carried out several joint operations at border areas in a ‘historic cooperation’ between the two neighboring countries.

    He claimed that all of the attackers of Peshawar school were killed by security forces in retaliation and that none could flee, as claimed by some media outlets. Khan did not elaborate on investigation details citing ‘security reasons’. Khan, in his address to the house, pledged that the government would continue its operation against terrorists to avenge the bloodshed in Peshawar and Shikarpur.

    “Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif went to Kabul soon after the militant attack after which Afghan forces, ISAF and Pakistan jointly carried out operations,” he said.
