Islamabad Police arrested 70 suspects on Sunday during search operations in various areas of the city.
A police spokesman said that following the suicide attack on an Imambargah in Rawalpindi on January 9, police have been instructed by ministry of interior to increase patrolling in the twin cities. Police have also been asked to conduct search operations in slum areas, under-construction buildings, workshops and inns.
On Sunday, search operations were conducted in Banigala, Tarnol, Margalla and Sihala areas. Police arrested 70 suspects who are currently under investigation.
Moreover, police arrested 10 outlaws from various areas of the city and recovered 1.2 kilograms of hashish, five illicit pistols along with ammunition and looted items from their possession.
Noon police also arrested a man and recovered an illicit pistol from his possession.
Margalla police arrested a person for illegally filling a gas cylinder. Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police arrested two accused and recovered 1.2 kilogram hashish and one 30 bore illicit pistols along with ammunition from their possession.
Shahzad Town and Sihala police arrested three men and recovered illicit weapons from their possession. Cases have been registered against those arrested and further investigation is underway, a police spokesperson said.
