    Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed the confidence that the federal budget for next financial year will help put the economy on a faster growth trajectory.

    Chairing a special meeting of the Federal Cabinet convened to approve the budgetary proposals for the next financial year, in Islamabad today, he noted that the economy is stable regardless of all the challenges.

    Shehbaz Sharif said this is the third budget of the present government. He recalled that taxes were imposed in previous two budgets keeping in view the requirements of the country and the IMF besides aimed at stabilizing the economy and widen the scope of development.

    The Prime Minister said tax relief and other measures, aimed at taking the economy forward, will be presented in the cabinet for approval.

    Shehbaz Sharif also mentioned his talks with the Managing Director IMF saying that she is appreciative of the economic performance of Pakistan.

    The Prime Minister highlighted that detailed discussions were held with the PPP regarding the federal budget, while other allies unconditionally supported the budgetary proposals.

    Shehbaz Sharif referred to his discussions with the provinces regarding the federation's additional funding requirements.

    The Prime Minister appreciated all the provincial governments for their openness, cooperation and positive approach.
