Hunan University of Medicine in China has honored Pakistani scientist Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Chaudhry by naming its newly inaugurated research building after him.
The announcement was made during an event at the esteemed Chinese institution, recognizing Dr. Chaudhry’s monumental contributions to science and international collaboration.
The research facility, covering an impressive 13,000 square feet, will be home to 17 full-time researchers focused on deepening scientific ties between Pakistan and China. This dedication marks a historic milestone, as it is the first time a research center at Hunan University of Medicine has been named after a Pakistani scientist.
Professor Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry’s legacy in fostering Sino-Pak research partnerships has been pivotal, particularly in establishing centers that encourage collaborative efforts between Chinese and Pakistani scientists. An internationally respected scientist, Dr. Chaudhry has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Mustafa (PBUH) Prize, Pakistan’s Civil Awards (Hilal-I-Imtiaz, Sitara-I-Imtiaz, and Tamgha-I-Imtiaz), China’s Friendship Award, and the Golden Silkball Friendship Award.
In addition to his role as Vice President of the World Academy of Sciences for Central and South Asia, Dr. Chaudhry is a fellow of globally recognized institutions, including the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World and the Royal Society of Chemistry in London.
The establishment of this center reflects a significant advancement in the scientific partnership between China and Pakistan, paving the way for impactful research initiatives that will drive progress in various scientific fields.
