    Lieutenant General Muhammad Ali has been officially appointed as the new defence secretary of Pakistan, following the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

    The Establishment Division has issued a notification confirming the three-star general's appointment, which will last for two years and three months until his retirement.

     

     

     

     

    Lieutenant General Ali is set to assume his new role on October 1, and will serve until December 31, 2026. His extensive military background and experience are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the country's defence policies during his tenure.

    Lt Gen Ali is currently serving as the quarter master general in Pakistan Army's GHQ in Rawalpindi. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz.
