Iranian President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at a meeting in Islamabad today agreed on joint efforts to eradicate terrorism.
The two leaders also held discussion to increase trade and communication links between the two countries.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the entire Pakistani nation welcomes the visit of the Iranian President saying it is the first visit of a head of a state after the general elections in Pakistan.
The Iranian President expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the warm welcome accorded to him.
Iranian President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi has arrived in Islamabad on a three day official visit to Pakistan.
On arrival at Nur Khan Airbase, he was warmly received by Federal Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada.
The Iranian President is accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation, comprising the Foreign Minister and other members of the cabinet, senior officials and a business delegation.
In the second leg of his high-profile visit to Pakistan, Raisi will travel to Lahore where he will meet Governor Balighur Rehman and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
He is also scheduled to visit the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal.
Later, the Iranian leader will travel to Karachi where his meetings are scheduled with Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
Raisi will also visit Quaid's mausoleum in Karachi and pay his respects to the founder of Pakistan.
The foreign leader would stay in Karachi and return to Tehran on Wednesday.
The provincial authorities are on high alert due to the high-profile visit and public holiday has been declared in Karachi on April 23.
