Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader and former federal minister Khawaja Asif has stressed that it was time political parties think beyond their “personal benefits” and work for the public.

“There can be no economic stability without political stability,” he said at a press conference, lamenting that the current political behaviours were further promoting division in the public.

Regarding the formation of the government, Asif said there was a development in the talks between the PML-N and PPP but stopped short of revealing the details. Regarding the Punjab government, he said PML-N had attained a “comfortable majority” in the province.

Khawaja Asif has said the decision to nominate Shehbaz Sharif as the prime minister was that the latter had greater experience in dealing with the coalition government.

“But rest assured, Nawaz Sharif will remain our quaid and the coin will always be in his hand,” he asserted.

Former opposition leader in National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader Raja Riaz claimed that former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif and PPP-co chairman Asif Ali Zardari have finalised the terms of government formation.

In an interview with a private news channel Raja Riaz claimed not to take the PPP and PML-N committees seriously as matters related to government formation have already been decided between former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif and PPP-co chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

He revealed that all of them (PPP) would be seen in the cabinet along with PML-N and if they denied they wouldn’t be able to form government in Sindh too.

Riaz said that he accept his defeat in the recent election held across Pakistan however he questioned former interior minister Rana Sanaullah’s defeat saying that he was PML-N’s strong candidate in election 2024.

Commenting on the Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s statements, Raja Riaz said that JUI-F chief held a meeting with him and informed him about support on no-confidence motion from several people. Now he revealed that Qamar Bajwa was behind the ouster of Imran Khan so he said the truth, Riaz added.

It is pertinent to mention here that government formation in the centre suffered another blow as the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) again categorically denied being part of the federal cabinet saying that the party would vote for the PML-N’s prime minister nominee. “But the Bilawal Bhutto Zardari-led party’s members would not hold any ministry or portfolio in the federal cabinet either.”
