Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif has confired that party’s chief organiser Maryam Nawaz is the candidate for the Punjab chief minister’s slot.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad along with PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali zardari, MQM’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and PML-Q’s chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in Islamabad, Shehbaz said that he would request Nawaz Sharif to agree to take the seat of the premiership to take the country out of the current crisis.

Shehbaz Sharif said that they uttered words against each other in the election but that phase was over, and now the parliament was coming into existence, and they have to prop up the economy on its feet.

In a tweet, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb also confirmed the nomination of Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz for the prime minister and chief minister’s slots repectively.

In the tweet, she said: “Pakistan Muslim League-N supremo Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has nominated Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for the post of prime minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, while Maryam Nawaz Sharif for the post of chief minister of Punjab. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to the people of Pakistan and all the political parties and their leaders who provided political cooperation, and expressed his firm belief that as a result of these decisions, Pakistan will overcome economic challenges and the people will get rid of inflation.”

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Muslim League (N), the Pakistan People’s Party, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, the Muslim League (Q), the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party and the Balochistan Awami Party announced to form a coalition government.

A meeting of all major political parties was held at the residence of Muslim League (Q) leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in Islamabad, which was attended by Asif Zardari, Shehbaz Sharif, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Sadiq Sanjrani.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, former president Asif Zardari said that they have decided to form a government together and they also wanted the PTI to join the reconciliation process as they had no ideological differences with anyone.

He said that everyone would have to unite on an economic agenda in the best interests of the country. He said there were differences in the election but they have to move forward together.

On the occasion, Asif Zardari chanted the slogan of Pakistan Khappay.

MQM leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that he had supported Shahbaz Sharif before and would do so again. He said that they would all take Pakistan towards a better tomorrow.
