  • Hearing against SC Practice and Procedure Act adjourned for indefinite period

    The hearing on the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Bill case has been adjourned for an indefinite period.

    The government has asked for time to review the law. According to the Attorney General, it will take time to review the law due to the budget meeting. Non-availability of Justice Shahid Waheed is also the reason of adjourning of hearing.

    Earlier today the hearing on the petitions filed against the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act 2023 was supposed to be heard by 8  member large bench. 

    Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial, Justice Ijazul Hassan, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Mazahir Naqvi, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Ayesha Malik, Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Shahid Waheed were also included in the bench. 

    It should be noted that the Supreme Court has placed a ban on the Practice and Procedure Act.
