    French Development Agency has pledged 55 million dollars to support polio eradication programme in Pakistan.

    This was announced during a visit by the delegation of the French agency and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the National Emergency Operations Centre for Polio Eradication in Islamabad.

    The French Development Agency delegation was headed by Director of Health and Social Protection, Agnès Soucat while the Gates Foundation delegation was led by Global Head for Polio Eradication, Jay Wegner.

    The delegation members appreciated Pakistan's progress in polio eradication and pledged their support to keep the country on track to interrupt the transmission of wild poliovirus this year, as envisioned in the global eradication strategy.
